THE LEGAL CREATIVE EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORTED ART ARTIST APPLICATIONS
The Legal Creative is currently seeking artists of all disciplines to launch our inaugural Community Supported Art program this summer. Due to numerous requests, the deadline for Artist Applications has been extended to March 31, 2014. Artists who have already submitted applications are welcome to supplement or update their applications. All applications will be treated equally during the jury process.
HOW IT WORKS
Nine artists will be selected by a select jury made up of local professionals in the art world, including Christopher Barzak and Mark Shohayda. The nine selected applicants will be awarded a $1,000 stipend with which to create 50 pieces of work.
The Artist Application can be found online at legalcreative.org or on The Legal Creative’s Facebook page. Artists should be prepared to work within a limited time frame and submit an artist’s statement, proposal, and work samples.
Presale shares are currently available from now until May 1 for $300. After May 1, shares may be purchased for $350. Because shares will include 9 original, limited-run creations, they are limited to only 50 and are expected to sell out quickly.
MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Over the last 20 years, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farms. With the same buy-local spirit in mind, Community Supported Art (CSArt) is a similar endeavor to support local art – both artists and collectors.
Our local CSArt program is modeled after the original program created by Springboard for the Arts and mnartists.org in Minnesota.
